We’re really excited to announce that Montgomeryshire Scouts will soon become part of Clwyd Area.
From 1st December 2025, Montgomeryshire will join Flintshire, Llangollen, Vale of Clwyd (Denbighshire) and Wrexham as one of the five Districts of Clwyd Area Scouts.
For those who don’t know, Montgomeryshire stretches from Llanrhaedr-ym-Mochnant in the North to Llanidloes in the South, Machynlleth in the West to Welshpool in the East. It will keep its strong identity, retaining its current Area badge which will become the District badge, sitting alongside the Clwyd Area badge.
Due to the rural nature of Montgomeryshire, it has never had enough Groups to need more than one District, and so has operated as both a District and an Area. This has made it challenging to provide the support the volunteers in each Section deserve.
It simply makes more sense for it to join a neighbouring Area so that we can all work together to share the support we have. Clwyd is only too happy to welcome Montgomeryshire to join its existing four Districts.
While for some this will be a bittersweet moment for the Area of Montgomeryshire, the benefits are clear to see.
Let’s get working together for the benefit of the young people of North East and now Mid Wales!
