This August, the Cubs from 1st Mynydd Isa took on a fantastic project to help protect one of our most important little helpers—bees! The Cubs and their families got involved in Project Bee Bomb, rolling up their sleeves to make a big difference for local pollinators.

Bees play a huge role in keeping our environment healthy, especially when it comes to helping plants grow. But this year, the Cubs noticed that there seemed to be fewer bees buzzing around. So, they decided to do something about it! The Cubs learned why bees are so important, why their numbers are dropping, and what we can all do to help.

After learning all about the challenges bees face, the Cubs got hands-on by making hundreds of “bee bombs” and seed packs, filled with wildflower seeds generously donated by local businesses. These special seed packs are designed to help bees thrive by providing them with wildflowers—full of the nectar and pollen they need to survive.

But the Cubs didn’t stop there! They headed to the village centre to share the bee bombs and seed packs with their community. They spoke to people, explaining how important it is to plant wildflowers in gardens to give bees places to feed and rest. By doing this, the Cubs are helping to make sure the local bee population has the resources they need to flourish.

The 1st Mynydd Isa Cubs are really proud of their efforts, and rightly so! Their project isn’t just about learning—it’s about taking action and making a real difference. By getting the local community involved, they’re hoping their hard work will have a lasting impact on the bees and the environment.

Bees might be small, but their role in helping our food grow is massive. That’s why this project matters so much. The Cubs showed us that simple steps, like planting a few wildflowers, can have a huge positive effect on nature—and it’s something we can all do.

So, next time you see some beautiful wildflowers blooming around Mynydd Isa, you’ll know that the Cubs and their bee-friendly mission played a part in making that happen. Great job, 1st Mynydd Isa Cubs!

Want to join the fun? It’s easy! Just grab some wildflower seeds, plant them in your garden, and help the bees in your area. Together, we can all do our bit to keep nature buzzing!
