In the last 3 years Clwyd Area Scouts has given out over £8000 as part of our New Horizons fund to young people and volunteers in the Area. We want to help young people and volunteers in Clwyd to participate in activities that would typically be outside the usual range by nature of cost

New Horizons Fund – Creating Opportunities
The fund intends to ‘ignite imaginations and inspire both youth and adult leaders through life-changing activities that foster personal growth and lifelong involvement in Scouting’
X for the X Explorers Unit adventure to Croatia in 2023
TEXT DESCRIPTON
Good examples of what might be considered as activities for funding are:
- World jamborees
- Explorer belt expeditions
- Exceptional activities for the King’s Scout and Duke of Edinburgh Gold awards (possibly overseas)
- Overseas Explorer/Network activities with a notable service element part; Area, District or Unit level
The following conditions apply when applying for New Horizons funding:
- To apply, please complete the below form linked in the ‘apply for funding’ button above
- The form will automatically be saved once submitted
- All applications should be submitted by no later than 31st March each year. Any applications received after this date will not be considered for the round
- The applications will be reviewed on their merits by the Area Trustee Board in April of each year, and a decision will be reached on the outcome of each application. This decision will be communicated to the applicant as soon as possible after they have been made
- There is no right to appeal to the decision made about funding, and no correspondence will be entered into
The following conditions apply when applying for New Horizons funding:
- The activity should stand on its merit and not be a vehicle to obtain funding from this ring-fenced fund
- The amount awarded will be meaningful and substantial
- The funding will be to cover direct costs and not administration or overheads
- The fund is not for capital projects
- Groups, activity leaders or individuals can make applications
