We’re kicking off Siarad – helping Scouts, Explorers and Network Sections across Clwyd to get talking. We will be visiting Sections, local events and offering activities that Sections can run themselves.
For a while both the Clwyd Scouts Youth Team had been discussing how to get more young people engaged with Youth Shaped Scouting, possibly by doing some sort of roadshow, and at the same time the Media Team were looking at how to get youth focussed media delivery. Luckily our teams talk to each other and they decided to do a joint project.
The aim is to get activities running which help young people to gain their Youth Shaped badge, plus media focussed badges like the Scouts Media Relations & Marketing badge and the Explorers Content Creation badge, and through this to get young people much more involved in running and promoting Scouts.
In the future we hope that the Scouts, Explorers and Network members who have taken part in Siarad will be the Youth Leads and Media Team of the future.
