Two weeks ago Gladstonbury absolutely rocked The Gladstone Centre in Flintshire.

From your classic scouting activities such as climbing, archery and shooting to some more quirky activities such as ‘It’s a Knock Out’, ‘Bongos Bingo’ and midnight laser tag” Gladstonbury saw over 400 Explorers from across the UK have the weekend of their lives’! Attendees were able to take up offsite activities too such as water activities and climbing.

With young people travelling from across the country to attend the epic event, it was enjoyed by more than 400 young people. This is the largest Gladstonbury has ever been. It had humble beginnings as a District event back in the early 2000s and was revived in 2016 with just under 70 Explorers attending. The event featured live music and entertainment and closed the event with a Hawaiian themed foam party which boasted Europe’s second largest foam cannon!

Gladstonbury is the ULTIMATE Explorer Scout Festival open to all members of Scouting who are of Explorer Scout age during the event. The event is held at the Gladstone Scout Campsite in Flintshire, North Wales and mashes up all the exciting activities you would expect from an Explorer Scout camp in the day, with a huge festival and party at night including amazing live bands & the best DJ’s we can find! Throw in a team of high energy leaders with some crazy games, ideas & a legendary coffee shop and we have the perfect recipe for a weekend you will never forget.

This year also saw a team of Gold Duke of Edinburgh participants join the team to help with the smooth running of the event. They’d been on site since the Wednesday, working with the Gladstone and Gladstonbury Teams to get everything ready.

We’re so proud of the team that put it on and cannot wait to see what 2026’s event has to offer!
