Welcome to Clwyd Scouts 👋
We’re Clwyd Area Scouts and everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds.
Clwyd Scouts is made up of over 40 groups, split into 4 districts right across North East Wales.
Every week we give over 2 thousand 4-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.
What we do
At Scouts, we’re all about preparing young people with skills for life. We know they learn best by doing, taking responsibility, working in teams, embracing challenges, and thinking independently. In our Area, we support our districts, groups, and units to help local young people do more, learn more, and be more. Every week, we offer our members the chance to enjoy fun and adventure while building the skills they need to thrive!
Clwyd Area is split into 4 districts – Flintshire, Llangollen, Vale of Clwyd & Wrexham
Flintshire District
Llangollen District
Vale of Clwyd District
Wrexham District
From Coedpoeth to Ruthin, Chirk to Mynydd Isa – we have over 40 groups, split into 4 districts right across North East Wales.
We believe in the power of community. We celebrate diversity and stand firmly against intolerance. As part of a worldwide movement, we’re creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.
Young people in Clwyd Scouts take part in an exciting programme of activities, from kayaking to coding. They develop character skills like resilience, initiative, and tenacity; employability skills such as leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving; and practical skills like cooking and first aid. And it works – a 2018 report shows Scouts are 17% more likely to show leadership skills and work well in teams. They’re also a third more likely to support their communities.
Be part of something amazing
At Clwyd Scouts we give over 2,000 young people the chance to become do-ers and give-it-a-goers every single week. From teaching them to cook a meal, to giving them the confidence for their university interviews we set them up with skills for life.
We welcome everyone in Scouts as we know that there’s a challenge and an adventure waiting for all whether you are doing us as a young person or as a volunteer.
It’s not just our young people who gain #SkillsForLife
We have over 750 adult volunteers across Clwyd! It’s not just our young people learning #SkillsForLife, our adult volunteers get so much out of volunteering too.
Adult volunteers in Scouting get just as much out of it as our young people do. Along with helping young people to develop new skills and enjoy the adventure of Scouting, you’ll also have fun, make friends, develop your own new set of skills, all while having unforgettable experiences.
Volunteer Today
Whether you can spare an hour a month or a day a year, we have hundreds of opportunities both behind the scenes and directly supporting young people. With full support and award-winning training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis. It’s incredibly rewarding, great fun, and you’ll gain brilliant skills transferable to the workplace too. We welcome volunteers from all communities and backgrounds. You don’t need to have been a Scout – just believe in a more positive future and the difference we can make together.
I love Scouting in Wales because I get to share amazing experiences with people of all ages, whilst learning skills and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Meet some of the people that make it all possible
We have a team of dedicated volunteers working tireless to help deliver #SkillsForLife to our young people. Whilst you may see some of these volunteers each week at your meetings or on camps, many of them work hard behind the scenes to help keep all of the wheels that make Scouting in Clwyd keep on rolling. They are the tea-makers, activity-planners, tidy-uppers, risk-assessors, budget-makers, camp-crusaders and phot-takers!
