Sharon Henshall, Assistant Beaver Scout Leader of the Castle Beaver Colony, a section within the 1st. Ruthin-Brynbach Scout Group, recently received a visit from the District Commissioner – Darryl Wright.

Darryl arrived at the Scout Hall to present Sharon with her Scout Association ‘Wood Beads’ and certificate, indications of which showed that Sharon had completed all the modular training required by the Association for her position within the Colony and Scout Group.

The beads are replicas of those initially handed out to Leaders, who had completed their training, by Baden Powell the founder of the Scout Movement. The original beads were taken from a beaded necklace presented to B-P by the Zulu chief as a token of friendship.

Sharon will be continuing with her training by increasing her skills as a canoeist along with other leaders within the Group.

The photo shows Darryl and a young Beaver handing Sharon her certificate whilst Nicola Minshull the Beaver Scout Leader looks on.
