Treffynnon Cyntaf Group were joined by Buckley St Matthews Scout Group over the weekend to take part in an international Scouting Event which sees Scouts from around the world embark on litter picks, aiming to collect at least 1 kilo of rubbish each along the way.

Scouts Trash the Trash Day was started by a American Scout Group, Troop 1206 in Helena, Montana after ‘realising that there are several days throughout the year that Scouts get together and do the same thing on the same day but there was not a day for Scouts to all get together and clean up their communities’.

This isn’t the first time Treffynnon Cyntaf have gotten involved in the event, but this year they were joined by friends from Buckley St Matthews.

Dave Jones, Group Lead Volunteer for Treffynnon CyntafScout Group said, ‘Fantastic Work on today’s Scouts Trash the Trash Day in Holywell, 10 bags of trash collected by 46 Volunteers on our Holywell town litter pick and by additional members in their home areas’.

Dave went on to thank all of the ‘amazing volunteers’. He also thanked the Greenfield Valley Rangers for the loan of additional litter pickers and Flintshire County Council for collecting the full bags.

According to the Scouts Trash the Trash website, so far this year 1,075 bags of rubbish have been collected by over 360 groups around the world.
