Welcome to the new style Clwyd Area Update! 🎉

It’s been a few months, but we are back on track and cooking on gas! 🔥 We’ve had so many positive developments over the last few months and we’re excited to share them with you all! 😊 In the past, we issued these updates via Mail Chimp, but we’ve decided to host them on the Area Website. This way, we can provide even more content and updates in one place, hitting two birds with one stone! Please bear with us as we iron out any wrinkles over the next few months to keep these updates looking even better each time we send one! 🚀✨

BANGOREE IS ON BABY!

Well, this is a bit bloomin’ exciting, isn’t it?!

I’m SUPER pumped to announce that we’re officially running an Area Camp in 2025! 🎉

Location: Bangor on Dee Racetrack 🏇
Dates: 11th – 13th July 2025 📅
Activities: TBC (but let’s be honest, you know it’s going to be EPIC) 😉

We’re in the early stages of planning and actively assembling our dream team now. We’d LOVE for you to jump in and get involved. Whether it’s a small role or a big commitment, your help will make this camp unforgettable. We’re aiming to learn from past camps and set a new standard for our area. Your input and support are crucial to making this a roaring success.

So, what are you waiting for? Let me know ASAP if you want to join in, and we’ll get you on board. We need all hands on deck, and whatever you can offer, we’ll make it work. 🚀

Nights Away Notifications: Remember that all NAN submissions must be received by your District Lead Volunteer or nominated approver no later than 7 days prior to the event date. If you don’t get them in before then, the event cant take place! You can find the link to the Nights Away section of the Scouts UK website HERE as well for your reference

Welcome Conversations: As of the 1st July 2024, as an early adopter Area, we are now using Welcome Conversations instead of appointments panel interviews. We need more people to do the e-learning to help ensure that we have enough volunteers around the Area to make this a success. You can find the e-learning HERE and a link to the Scouts UK website explaining the Welcome Conversations in more detail HERE

Mandatory Ongoing Learning (MOGL): As of the 1st July 2024 the way that Scouts UK is managing volunteers without in date safety and safeguarding has changed. If a volunteers safety or safeguarding module is out of date they will be suspended on the date of the expiry and they will be unable to engage in any Scouting activities until they modules are completed and added to Compass. If a volunteer does not complete their out of date training within two 8 weeks since suspension their membership with the movement will be ended

Visits Abroad Process: We would like to remind you of the clear process for visits abroad which must be followed for all international planning. You can find this process HERE

Helpful Videos: We have created helpful animated videos to help everyone better understand the Nights Away Notification Process, Welcome Conversations and the Visits Abroad process. You can find these on a new page of our website called ‘Helpful Videos’ and there are plenty more in development. We hope you enjoy them and find them useful!
