Mark Bower, a Scout volunteer from Flintshire, has set himself the epic challenge of walking 450 miles from Buckley to Buckie in northeast Scotland in order to raise funds for 1st Broughton Scout Group.

Mark is hoping to complete the challenge in around 14 days, staying at Scout huts along the long route north and hopes to raise as much money as possible to enable repairs to the Scout hut building, upgrades to essential equipment and to support running costs.
This will allow 1st Broughton Scouts to enhance the provision of Scouting activities and opportunities for children and young people. Scouting provides young people with the chance to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and practical skills for life.
We asked Mark where the idea for the Buckley to Buckie walk came from and he told us: “I’m a big Football fan, and have a season ticket for my local team of Buckley FC, so I thought, as Buckley to Buckie has a nice ring to it, I would choose to walk to Buckie Thistles ground.”
Mark set off on his daunting 450-mile adventure alone with a support vehicle nearby on 31st July with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.
